County Legislator Gouldman announces Unclaimed Funds Day

Unclaimed funds are money owed to New Yorkers dating back to the 1940's.

Putnam Legislator Bill Gouldman and the NYS Comptroller's office are encouraging residents to search for forgotten money, belonging to them, at the Putnam Valley Library on Wednesday, July 8, from 4 to 7pm. There are 32,405 accounts, valued at $11,744,597, owed to Putnam County residents.

"There are about 12 Million reasons why Putnam residents should be at the Putnam Valley Library on July 8th. When a person forgets about an old Bank account, utility deposit or many other types of accounts, that money can eventually be turned over to the State Comptroller's office. We are trying to raise awareness about unclaimed funds. It's your money, you should claim it," said Gouldman.

"In hard times this money can help stretch your budget so you have more to spend on essential things. I encourage residents to make the effort to find out if any of the almost 12 million dollars in unclaimed funds, currently being held by the state, belongs to them."

From 2013-2014, claims paid to Putnam County were 3040 total accounts valued at $1.337,422.37.

Be proactive. See if the state has any of your money.\

Temple Israel of Putnam Valley:

Temple Israel of Putnam Valley (Lake Drive, Lake Peekskill) is inaugurating a new program of “synagogue skills” learning. Rather than conduct a normal Shabbat service, we will be gathering together to study and learn for an hour or so. What we hope to do is to explore, in a relaxed and informal format, a series of key prayers and rituals that take place in synagogues around the world during Shabbat services. Our hope is that those who attend will find that they will become more comfortable with the content of the service.

This program is especially designed for anyone who is interested in learning more about what all these prayers and rituals mean but was afraid to ask!
EVERYONE IS CORDIALLY INVITED.

These informal “shul” sessions will take place on the
2nd & 4th Shabbat each month until further notice.

Regular Shabbat Services are held the 1st & 3rd Saturday each month at 9:30 am

Services are held in the Temple Sanctuary, Lake Shore Dr. in Lake Peekskill

All services are free and open to all!

All are invited to attend services.
