What's going on in our town this week...

Town Government Meetings/Deadlines:

     Wednesday, Sept. 10th - Ethics Board Meeting
          10:00 am at The Putnam Valley Grange Hall - 128 Mill Street, 2nd Fl.

     Wednesday, Sept. 10th - Town Board Work Session
          6:00 pm at Putnam Valley Town Hall - 265 Oscawana Lake Rd.
     Thursday, Sept. 11th - Zoning Board of Appeals Work Session
          6:30 pm at Putnam Valley Town Hall - 265 Oscawana Lake Rd.
     Friday, Sept. 12th - Deadline for Submissions for 9/29 Planning Board Mtg.


Highway Department Work / Road Closures:

     None reported



Environmental Hazards / Closures:

     No change has been reported regarding the status of Lake Peekskill - although testing has been done and remediation recommendations are being considered: all three Lake Peekskill beaches are closed due to hazardous algae levels. No one should swim in, bathe in, or drink the water from Lake Peekskill until further notice. Fish caught in Lake Peekskill at this time should not be eaten. Avoid the bloom...



Putnam Valley Free Library:
 
     Please observe posted signs as the entrance/exit and parking will change during construction. The Library porch will be closed during construction. You can continue to pick up library materials that you have requested online as well as return items in the community room. 

 
District News:

     Lake Peekskill District: Bulk Garbage Pickup
          
Route 1 – put it out by the week of September 15th.
          Route 2 – put it out by the week of September 22nd.


     Lake Oscawana District: District Meeting
           10:00 am - October 18th at the Putnam Valley Free Library
               Review the status of the lake and your tax dollars at work.
               A Town Board Member will attend.

St. Ambrose of Milan Orthodox Church

     Comes out of the Russian Orthodox tradition but worships using the old Western (Roman) Rite as it existed between the 5th - 9th centuries.

     Sundays at 10:00 am - Liturgy (Mass) followed by breakfast!
          Services held at the Putnam Valley Grange, 2nd Floor

Church of the North American Martyrs:

     Located at 55 Oscawana Lake Road in Putnam Valley
          Weekend Mass Schedule:
               Saturday - 5:00 pm
               Sunday - 9:00 am and 11:00 am

Temple Israel of Putnam Valley

     Regular Shabbat Services are held on Saturdays at 9:30 am
          Services held in the Temple Sanctuary, Lake Shore Dr. in Lake Peekskill
    
Rosh HaShanah (New Year) services will be held Sept. 25 & 26th at 9:00 am.
          Tashlich services will take place on Sept. 25th at approximately 1:15 pm
               across the street from the synagogue.

     All are invited to attend our services.  No tickets necessary / never a charge. 
     We wish all our neighbors and friends “L’Shana Tova Tikatevu.”

Putnam Valley Historical Society:

     Dedicated Volunteers are needed! Transcribers of historical documents, docents at the museum, and new members for the Society's Board of Directors are all needed. For more info, call (845) 528-1024 or e-mail pvhistoricalsociety@verizon.net.
